Steve McClean is an AV-rated attorney. Steve’s practice areas include business litigation, trade restraints, real estate, and business. Steve also acts as a third party neutral, handling mediations and arbitrations.
Steve was born in Bakersfield, California, in 1951. Steve grew up in Bakersfield and attended Bakersfield College. Steve transferred to UCLA, and graduated magna cum laude in 1973 with a degree in history. Steve was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa chapter of UCLA.
While living in Bakersfield, he worked part and full time in the family janitorial and paper supply business. Steve also managed the family business for a year, before attending law school.
Steve attended law school at U.C. Hastings in San Francisco. He graduated in 1977. Steve was an associate editor of the Law Journal, and was a member of the Order of the Coif, a national academic honor society for law students.
Steve is admitted to practice in all federal and state courts located in California.
Steve has been married for 30 years to Denise Routhier. Denise is a member of the Bar, and also teaches high school English at Hoover High School in Fresno. Steve and Denise have three daughters. Their oldest daughter is a Ph.D candidate at Harvard University, studying applied mathematics. Their middle daughter is in the Masters of Public Health Program at Emory University in Atlanta. The couple’s youngest daughter is employed by Deloitte and Touche in San Francisco, California. All three girls graduated from UC Berkeley (“Go Bears”).
Steve and Denise live on five acres in the country outside Clovis, where they raise animals. In his spare time, Steve likes to snorkel, kayak, and sail. To pursue these hobbies, Steve has traveled to New Zealand, Tahiti, and Hawaii, among other places.
